We all have to start somewhere and years of experience take years of experience, no shortcuts!
I remember when I first stated off with window tinting. I was the apprentice for a couple of years, before venturing out on my own. During my "apprenticeship" I was working along side an experienced window tinter and business owner. We both kept learning and the learning has not stopped for me to this very day. (Although the learning happens in some slightly different areas, such as training others)
So who should you trust?
You need to ask two questions to anybody you invite for a quote.
The first is asking about the experience of the person giving you the quote. Can they install window films themselves and how long have they been in the trade. (The reasoning behind this is the need to identify potential problems AND being able to "see" what effect a particular film would have on a room. Somebody not being an installer never sees the "before and after" and cannot relate.)
The second question should be about the experience of the installer. An inexperienced person should never work alone. Demand a senior installer to be in charge of a good size job. Having said that, many of our window tinters are a "One-man-band", so you would have the "chief cook and bottle washer" looking after you.
Can you afford to take the risk? Small business is struggling; we have business failures and you will not always get the consumer protection, especially when doing "cash deals".
Be careful out there!
My advice: Deal with a Master Tinter. No shortcuts.
Experience. Knowledge. Integrity.
