Scammed!

Yesterday we had an unusual request via email.

We get many requests for pricing of tinting by email. This person asked about the cost of tinting a car, as well as the cost of just buying the film. He needed a specific amount of heat and glare reduction.
We do sell window films to the trade, as distributor for Johnson Window Films  in New Zealand. We also supply the odd piece of film to the public, so I gave him both prices.

Great, he responded, he wanted enough film to do 12 cars, so I worked out the cost for a 30m roll.

He was happy and forwarded his credit card details. We processed this manually, getting an authorization number from the bank.
Once it was approved, I emailed this Jim, advising that the film is ready for pick-up.
I then checked my email from home and found a message from this person, requesting us to contact a freight forwarding company by name of Go Express Ltd, to send the film to .........GHANA!

I love rats, my daughter introduced me to them and we eventually inherited her pet, as you do. Now people say they can smell a rat and up until now, I used to disagree, rats do not smell!

Well, think again, this rat had a very distinct smell. Sending window tints from NZ to Ghana is not usual, having a freight company with only a hot mail address is definitely unusual. So I was very suspicious by now.

When returning to the office I asked my office lady to cancel the transaction and I sent a message to this "Jim Terms" advising him of the cancellation.

Strangely, after the flurry and urgency to respond yesterday, all he offered me today, was total radio silence....... funny that!
We checked with our bank and they advised us, that this particular individual's name has come up a few times, the card belonged to an American and they would take steps to prevent further damage to this person's account from scamsters like this Jim.

So, as you can see, we love rats of the non-smelly type and found that there are some smelly rats out there.
We prefer not to deal with them. So "Jim" go crawling back to your sewer and consider starting an honest way of living, like the majority of us.
Well, thanks for the entertainment, and material for this story, anyway. Life as a window tinter is interesting.

We have had the same experience and we called our credit card servicing company before running the card and found that the card was reported stolen from a church pastor in the mid-west USA!
Seller beware! I sure hope that I inherit all that money from that Nigerian exiled king! :-)
