This morning, I went to the local butcher. Upon entering, I noticed the glass had been etched by some person, wanting to leave his mark. I guess it is the equivalent of a dog marking his territory. Except the dogs are more discrete and probably have a higher IQ.
It is a sign of the times. Glass is a good target for vandals and graffiti. If it is scratched, keyed or etched, it is expensive to fix. If they use a spray, the glass can often get cleaned.
We see more of this damage, where entire shop fronts are vandalised. Insurance companies have to foot the bill to replace the glass, which in turn gets billed back to all the policy holders in the form of higher premiums. Thanks guys!
Now you can protect yourself from excessive costs, by applying a clear anti-graffiti film, before you get targeted by your local low-life. The purpose of the film is to sacrificed in case of an attack. The film is simply removed, leaving the glass below untouched. Costs are about half of replacing the glass.
I left my card in the butcher's shop. They will contact me, once the glass is replaced, to have an anti-graffiti film installed.
We use Johnson Window Films AG 04 or AG 07. These films are tough enough to withstand the best efforts of etching, without damaging the glass.
