Car tinting, it's all the same, right?

Before I got into this business, I knew nothing about window tinting. Nothing at all. I did not even know what it was.
Funny enough, I still meet people like me 14 years on.

Then I see expert jobs on the road, just like the one on the left, and think, great skills!

Luckily, not all tinting is like this. Some of us do have some pride in what we do.

Here is one to start you off: Not all films are created the same!

In NZ we have a growing number of people selling film on Trade Me, similar to e-bay. "Top quality" very cheap. Then there are these after-market places, selling dark films to anyone who wants it, usually too dark or reflective.

Here is an example of a "Top Quality Film" blocking 99% UV from TradeMe:
UV transmission: 12%
Visible light transmission: 37%
(at least this is a legal film)
IR (heat) transmitted: 88%
This is clearly a dyed film, which will last 6-months in New Zealand, before turning purple and bubble off. Great investment!

Now compare this to a professional, metallised film:

UV transmission: 00%

Visible light transmission: 37%

IR (heat) transmission: 52%

Say no more.

A little homework can save money later, as the professional film comes with a lifetime warranty!

We use Johnson Window Films, where extra performance and clarity is wanted.

Contact us at 0800 846 892 and we can refer you to a competent car tinter in your area.
At Tint Waikato, we only tint houses and business premises.
