What's in a name?

Have you ever noticed how we, as people, are so obsessed with brand names? Just look at the electronics and phones! Apple, Samsung just to mention two. Look at the cars, Mercedes, BMW, Lexus, Holden vs Ford (here in NZ and Oz) Just about any market has brand leaders.
Even in our humble window tinting world, brand names appear to be very important. This is especially so in the Asian market. Everybody wants be seen with 3M (why?) The logo is even left on the film after application. How sad....

Now, I think the consumer should have the opportunity to do a little research on the window tints they are considering. In my business, we have always given the customer the proper name of the film types and happy to share the information given on our manufacturer's web sites. In fact, I feel making everything transparent helps to close a deal.
The fact that we have used Johnson Window Films for more than 12 years now, without any major problems, instils confidence. We invite our customers to go online to do a little more research and I admire the attitude of Johnson to give unlimited access to anyone, customer or not.

Often we come up against competitors that are unwilling to give out any info. They don't even leave a sample with the customer, just in case a competitor would see it. So the customer is left with nothing to compare and possibly get another film type (the one that just happens to be in the tinter's vehicle).
Where is the pride and integrity? I love my competition!
