The best thing done to the boat! Ever!

We tinted the sloped front windows of a cabin cruiser a couple of years ago, using a 40% Ceramic film. At the time, the owners had tried all sorts of things, such as blinds, to reduce the heat building up in the cabin. Nothing worked well and looked good, until we had this film installed.

Today, the owner contacted me, wanting to have the glass on the fly-bridge tinted. The reason was that some of the instruments stopped working on hot days. As I'm no longer in the Auckland area, I gave the lead to the installer doing the original job, Navin from A1 Tinting.
The owner said, having the window tinted with the ceramic film was the best thing he has spent his money on... EVER!

I know the job on the fly-bridge will also be successful. We had a client with speed boats in Fiji with instrument failure. They were looking at all sorts of solutions, but using ceramic window film reduced the temperatures from 40 degrees down to 28 degrees and the problems vanished immediately.
Why ceramic window film? Because it is not prone to de-metallising like conventional film in a marine environment.

We don't use ceramic tint because of the cost but after reading this post we may need to reevaluate that decision. What brand do you use?

The best brand is Huper Optik, if you can get it. Another one to consider is Johnson Window Film's IR or Palisade range.

Many people never think to use window tinting to reduce heat in the summer. It's good to know they make residential window tint that can reduce heat in the summer. Some people spend way to much to keep our air conditioning going during those summer months.

I have to agree with Ron on this one. Because my car doesn't have any tinted windows. And during the summer my car is just an oven. My girlfriend on the other hand, has tinted windows on her car. And it makes a huge difference temperature wise.
